Bassinet That Vibrates |
Use a Bedside Bassinet
One of the best ways to help you get better sleep is by cutting down on uptime when your baby wakes up. You can use a bedside bassinet to safely keep your baby close to you, which will make it much easier than getting up and getting your baby. Every moment is precious when trying to calm a crying, hungry baby. You will want to keep your baby in the same room with you for at least six months and for up to a year, and a bedside bassinet gives you the advantages of having your baby close while following safe sleep guidelines. A bassinet with walls that easily push down means you won’t have to get out of bed to cuddle or nurse, and a bassinet that vibrates can help lull a baby back to sleep.
Swaddle Your Baby
There are two major reasons you should swaddle your baby. Swaddles help keep your baby warm as it is much harder for babies to regulate their body temperature. Swaddling also suppresses the startle reflex, also known as the Moro reflex, that can make babies fling their arms and legs out and wake themselves up. Loose blankets are dangerous in a crib or bassinet, so it’s best to use a sleeping bag that lets you swaddle your little one.
Stick with a Routine
Start a routine and stick with it. It might be something like a bath, getting in pajamas and a sleeping bag or wearable blanket, nursing or feeding, reading a book or two, singing, and putting your baby in the bassinet. The goal of the routine is for the baby to recognize it is time for sleep, so they’ll start getting more relaxed and more receptive to sleep.
Have Supplies Ready
Much like keeping your baby close to limit how much you have to move around so you can save time, have supplies like diapers, wipes, and a nursing pillow nearby. If you are using formula, make a batch of formula beforehand and have bottles ready. You might find having a mini-fridge in your room is a great idea for holding bottles, so you won’t have to head to the kitchen when you need one.
Prepare Everything Beforehand
In the spirit of saving time, have everything ready before you start the routine and go to sleep. Make the bottles ahead of time if necessary, pick out pajamas and a sleeping bag, choose books, and make sure all supplies are stocked up and ready for use.
